Tell us how you felt before your first appointment to try on gowns...

I was a mixture of emotions, excited to try on some gowns but nervous about the choices available. I’m very indecisive and worried about choosing ‘the one’ as there would be no going back!

On arriving at Y.A.P Bridal Boutique what were your initial thoughts...

Y.A.P really is a ‘boutique’. The shop is gorgeous and has such a lovely atmosphere, a really special feeling to it. I had visited on recommendation and knew I’d came to the right place.

Your Style Ideas...

I tried very hard not to have my mind set on any particular style or designer as I wanted to have an open mind, however, there were some things I didn’t want. I knew I wanted my dress to be lightweight so I would be comfortable. Nothing too ‘in fashion’ as I wanted a timeless gown which would link into my vintage theme.

Your Consultation to Finding the One...

The consultation was more of an informal girly chat. The Y.A.P girls really know how to put you at ease while figuring out what you want. I was asked about my day, the venue, the theme/colours etc so they could understand more. My stylist really took the stress away and I was excited to look though the gowns with her.

Tell us about your bridal stylist and the ‘You Are Precious’ service you received...

Following the consultation, my stylist really had a vision of what I was looking for. Without realising, all the dresses I chose were the same designer, however none were quite there….she then disappeared and came back with another gown which became the chosen one. It was perfect and combined everything that I loved about the other dresses. I never felt rushed as they really understand what a big decision it is.

How did you feel when you found your dream gown & how did you know it was ‘The One’...

I got butterflies. I cried. And most of all, I could picture myself getting married in it. It’s hard to describe the feeling you get when you find your dress, its sooo exciting and emotional but you just know. I didn’t want to take it off as it was perfect. My gown was by Maggie Sottero and I still love it to this day.

Talk to us about your overall Y.A.P Bridal Journey…

I loved hearing the story behind Y.A.P. The girls are great,Jo has an amazing team. I loved every part of my journey and actually miss coming to the boutique! I was seen mainly by Jo and Danni who are amazing but the whole team was so welcoming every time we came or called the store and nothing is too much trouble. I felt really looked after and my gown was perfect when I collected it. Anne who took care of the alterations was also great and even altered my bridesmaid dresses too. She did a fantastic job and really knows what she’s doing.

Tell us more about your day...

• ACCESSORIES

I had a full length sheer veil which matched the dress perfectly. There was no detail as there was so much detail on the dress itself and i didn’t want to cover the detail on the back of the dress either. My shoes were No1 Jenny Packham. Pale gold with a sparkle. I wore a Swarovski bracelet which was a gift from my husband to be on the morning of the wedding.

• FEELINGS

I felt amazing and like a Bride, but still me. My dress fit perfectly and I didn’t want to take it off.

• VENUE

We had a traditional Church wedding. St Andrews Church in Sunderland followed by a reception at The Quayside Exchange, Sunderland. We had a magician (Paul Lytton) entertain the guests upon arrival and he was amazing.

I wanted a relaxed day which it was. The whole day was filled with laughter….(even the vows) and everything went to plan (well, apart from me being on time!)

• DETAILS •

I knew all along I wanted a vintage theme with pastel colours. My bridesmaids wore No1 Jenny Packham dresses in a mixture of shades, they were beautiful and really complimented my dress.

• SUPPLIERS

Flowers by Jan Watters, Cleadon. I had a mix of pink peonies and roses and they were absolutely stunning. She created the exact style I had in mind and I had tears when they arrived and again in the room at the reception.

Cake by Prettylicious Cakes. We had a mixture of flavours and they were all delicious.

Photography by GS Studios. Gem and Jo are great and really got on well with us and the guests. The photos are lovely and they work with whatever style you want to go for. Gem even saved the day by helping me into my dress on the morning as there were so many buttons!

Favours by Vanilla Teas, Cullercoats. We had personalised iced biscuits which tied in with our cake colours.

Hair and makeup by Simone Whitehead and Marissa Bennett. They were both amazing and did a great job.

So much love for this gorgeous journey - thank you Deb for sharing and to GS Studios for the fabulous images xxx
