I was super nervous as I was in the process of losing weight but I was also totally overwhelmed with excitement - as of course, it’s every girl’s dream to go wedding dress shopping!
I had been to Y.A.P Bridal before for a friend’s fitting and had found the boutique to be totally gorgeous, so I was not disappointed when I arrived for my first visit to shop for my own wedding dress. The atmosphere is so calming and makes you feel instantly at home (as well as the warmest welcome from all of the Y.A.P girlies).
I had been to a couple of boutiques before visiting Y.A.P, so I had kind of narrowed down what style best suited my shape. I had always envisaged myself in a princess style gown, but wanted something really unusual and unexpected to wow our guests as well as a gown with a beautifully detailed back.
Louise was fantastic and asked me a number of questions about what I was looking for, how I wanted to feel and whether I had any style and material preferences. She was then able to pull out the perfect range of designs and dresses for me to try, amongst which was a stunning champagne Maggie Sottero gown that ticked all of the boxes.
My stylist Louise, as well as all of the Y.A.P girls, were amazing from start to finish and really did make me feel precious. From the biggest cuddles on arrival, to the champagne to toast saying yes to the dress, my experience was a truly magical one and I am so thankful.
I cried. Quite simply, I cried. And this was always how I had imagined that I would know that I had found ‘The One’. Despite the sample dress not fitting me perfectly yet, I knew as soon as I put it on and looked in the mirror, that this was the one for me. Needless to say my entourage’s reactions cemented this!
Faultless. Everything about my Y.A.P Bridal Journey was a joy. I really have no words to justify the unforgettable experience I had.

• ACCESSORIES •
I had always wanted some amazing shoes to compliment my gown so when I found the Evangeline Sophia Webster’s my jaw dropped! I remember ordering them instantly (even though I hadn’t purchased my dress by this point!), knowing that I wouldn’t find another pair as perfect. I decided against a veil as the back of my dress was so delicate and detailed so instead I opted to accessorize with some beautiful hair pins.
• FEELINGS •
I felt like a total princess. I had surpassed by weight loss target and the dress fit me like a glove. You can see on the photographs just how happy and comfortable I felt, gliding around our beautiful venue.
• VENUE •
We chose Lartington Hall for our wedding venue as having worked in the wedding industry before, I really wanted something different. When you have worked on and attended so many weddings, at the same venues, with the same suppliers, it becomes super important for your day to be one of a kind and something your guests will never forget. We wanted a venue and a day that really reflected us as a couple and Lartington was the perfect mix of class and comfort!
• DETAILS •
Our colour theme was blush pink and gold. Lartington has a lot of gold accents and we wanted colours that would complement both mine and Dan’s attire. Dan had a tailor made 3-piece suit from Jules B, which he chose a beautiful blue fabric for. I had always thought that blush pink complimented this really well and there was the small dictation of my shoes which were indeed blush pink and gold!
• SUPPLIERS •
Aaah they were all fantastic, we were so lucky!
Rachel Alcock was our photographer who really captured us as a couple as well as the love and happiness amongst all of our guests on the day.
Sarah Meeson from Vintage Essence in Barnard Castle created our flowers including the most stunning buttonholes, amazing orchid avalanches and my fabulous bouquet.
Kitty Kerry and Rebecca Wright worked on my hair and make-up and my word did they do a good job!
My maid of honour’s mum owns a sweet shop in Chester-Le-Street and as a wedding present she supplied a gorgeous old fashioned sweet cart for our reception – that really went down a treat.
We also had a steel pan band for our drinks reception which we found through AMV Live – the Caribbean atmosphere they created was a perfect touch to reflect where we got engaged!
Everyone we worked with was fantastic and I couldn’t recommend them highly enough.
So much love going out to our amazing one, Eve for sharing her Y.A.P Bridal Journey with us all. Big thanks to Rachel Alcock for her amazing photography capturing the pairs day perfectly. xxx
