We used to chat on MSN when we were teenagers.. one night we started talking and from then we spoke every night for 3 years! We then decided to meet up and Shaun made the long coach ride from Swindon to Blyth! With living in different parts of the country we were long distance for a year until Shaun moved to the North East for university. During that time we got engaged while on holiday in Spain and then when Shaun finished uni I moved to Swindon and bought our own house. We've been together 10 years next year!
After visiting one bridal shop before my visit to YAP, I was excited to try another in the hope of finding my dream dress. I didn't have any luck at the previous shop so was worried I'd not find anything I liked but I was excited to continue my search.
The first thing I noticed about YAP is the gorgeous smell when you first walk in! It became a familiar and exciting smell when I went back to the boutique for my first try on, first fitting and to pick my dress up. The ladies were so welcoming, friendly and I felt right at ease. Plus the boutique is absolutely beautiful.
I always thought I wanted a long sleeved dress and after trying one on at a previous boutique I realised it wasn't for me. I did know I wanted an A-line type bottom though. I was excited to try different dresses to see which suited best.
I enjoyed the consultation, it was something I hadn't experienced before. I was asked what I visioned my day being, budget and style. It was a nice way to get to know my stylist too.
My bridal stylist was Heather and she put my at ease right away, she was smiley, friendly and helpful. She spoke about the styles I liked and she helped me pick out a few to try. It was actually her and my Mam who suggested the dress which became the one!
My dress was the 9th dress I had tried on and I felt amazing in it but I also had one more to try on from the ones I'd picked out. I tried number 10 on and took it straight off to put number 9 back on again. I just knew it was the one, I hadn't felt like I felt with the others and I could see myself wearing it on the day. Plus my Mam cried too which is a good sign!
From the moment I stepped into the boutique I felt good vibes and knew I wanted to find my dress there. The ladies are so lovely and I knew I'd be well looked after there. Their service is brilliant and the boutique is gorgeous. I was kept up to date throughout and am so happy I got to be a YAP bride.

My shoes were Nick of Time by Irregular Choice. Cinderella shoes!
I wore a mid length veil which was picked out by the girls at Y.A.P.
I felt amazing in my dress, like I'd made the perfect choice and I was eager to see what Shaun thought of it. I had a feeling he'd love it as he'd mentioned while watching Don't tell the Bride that he liked backless dresses! I made a good choice then!
Newton Hall. We had a glorious sunny weekday wedding which is what I had pictured for our day.
We went for a pink and gold colour scheme. My bridesmaid wore a pink dress and our tables were decorated with gold sequin runners and pink and white tall glass centrepieces.
I decided to make everything myself including stationary, table plan, centrepieces, favours and photo booth.
Florals and props
My bouquets were made by Sarah at Posie and we also hired an illuminated heart from Coco Luminaire.
