Tell us how you felt before your first appointment to try on gowns...

Excited although slightly nervous and apprehensive as I never thought id be a 'wedding dress' girl yet that soon changed once I spoke to Danni and knowing her as a friend, I knew she would help pick out some dresses that would suit my style.

On arriving at Y.A.P Bridal Boutique what were your initial thoughts...

Beautiful, contemporary Boutique, with a really relaxed vibe. I had been to other boutiques which were intense, with a strong sell approach which made me feel very uncomfortable. As soon as I walked into Y.A.P I got a big hug off Danni and lovely warm welcome from the rest of the girls!

Your Style Ideas...

I didn’t know what style would suit me or even if I wanted a 'wedding dress' as some shapes I had previous tried elsewhere had made me look like a big wall of satin and frill –I knew with having the wedding overseas that I wanted a dress that was easy to move in and super relaxed

Your Consultation to Finding the One...

The awesome Y.A.P team and the service from start to finish was flawless! To start with I tried on all different shapes to understand which style suited me and which styles didn’t. Throughout this process on a busy Saturday in the boutique, the team were so patient and not once did I feel like I was rushed! I've since recommended any new brides I've spoken with to visit Y.A.P Bridal Boutique as they are all so professional in what they do and their personal service was out of this world.

Tell us about your bridal stylist and the ‘You Are Precious’ service you received...

Danni was.. And is AMAZING! She really listened and helped me chose a dress that was right for me and the day we were having, never once making me feel under pressure. She was great at putting together a look and feel that would encapsulate the big day.

How did you feel when you found your dream gown & how did you know it was ‘The One’...

On the day I found the dress it was the last of the 5 I tried on.. All the time I knew this would be the one as it was perfectly draped on the hanger. When I tput my dress on it was just perfect, beautifully beaded lace with a relaxed silhouette which was easy to move it in and my 'sit down' test which I gave each dress whilst on to know if it was comfortable or not.

Talk to us about your overall Y.A.P Bridal Journey…

The Y.A.P journey was a bag of emotions from excitements, overwhelming and the upmost happiness. I would look forward to going into the boutique and putting on the dress while the Y.A.P team worked their magic - making you feel you are the most important person in the room!

Tell us more about your day...

• ACCESSORIES

My shoes were Miu Miu ballerinas, as much as I loved all the veils I decided to not go with one as I would be too hot in the Italian sun - so went with a hand made halo head piece of rose gold and aquamarine gemstones , accessories were a mixtures of rings by Monica Vinader and Daniella Draper

• FEELINGS

I felt amazing on my day and the dress was even more perfect when I unboxed it after our flight.

Anne, the boutiques recommended seamstress, advised to do some alterations to my dress and with her backgrond knowledge I trusted her completely.

The comments I received on the day about my dress and how it suited my personality and the day itself were amazing -  the whole look was perfect!

• VENUE

Our wedding was held in a small farming village called Arpino in Italy which is where Adam, my husbands family is from.

The wedding went over 3 days with a pre wedding festa at the guest hotel with a traditional italian band to provide the music and food provided by one of our favourite restaurant.

The whole wedding day was held at the Tenuta “Il Laureto hotel' which we chose for there agritourism and there beautiful outdoor setting – we wanted a festival back to nature approach to the day which is something we both love to do with lots of good food, music and vino!

We wanted our guest to have a relaxed time and to enjoy the day without too much order, we had chill out zones and individual flowers and herbs hanging from the tress, lined with festoon lights.

The third day was followed by a pool party back at the wedding venue, it was a perfect 3 days to chill out in the sun with all our family and friends.

• DETAILS •

The surrounding nature was our colour scheme, we wanted our guests to all sit together so I diced on one big long table lined with olive leaves and my love for white candles along, teamed with menus which I designed myself.
The bridesmaids decided on a dusty pink colour and then each chose there own dress that they knew would suit each of them and would work with the natural setting.

• SUPPLIERS

Lee Scullion Photography – Seeing Lee at our friends wedding in the past we both knew we wanted to use him and bring him over to Italy for our wedding.  We wanted a non-traditional approach to the photos and to capture more of the natural looks from our day which he is famous for.  Lee was perfect from the pre wedding prepping and during the days leading up to the big day, he had everyone engaged and laughing. He is a true master at what he does and it was great to have him capture our day in the cool contemporary style that he does!

Planning a wedding overseas can be very hard especially as 70% was translated via google translate so the help we got from our wedding planner Vureska Corsetti who was Italian based and would travel across to Arpino even when we weren't there to make sure everything was going smoothly in the lead up to the wedding was fantastic and a great piece of mind.  We used the local florist Rosie and her team to create everything from the hay-bale seating, the groomsmen's button holes, bouquets and the individual flowers hanging from the ceremony tree. there was no job too big and the level of her attention to detail was immaculate!

We are lucky enough to have one of our close friend be our super start DJ for the 2 days Sam Hale, as he knows the music we like to get down and boogie to we had to have him there.
He definately knows the tunes to get everyone up and dancing!

Working in design I created all the invite and the menus myself which I loved doing and since have had other brides contact me to design theirs.

I would also like to note that previous to our Italian wedding we had  the 'legal bit' here in Newcastle and I chose Bels Flowers to create the bouquet and Adams button hole for the day. Helen was great at understanding what I wanted and created a bouquet that would capture my Nigerian heritage with vibrant flowers. She also kindly helped in creating ideas for the table layout for the Italian wedding. She is true an artist at what she does and would recommend her to anyone!

Huge loves to the gorgeous Elizabeth for sharing her journey and to Lee Scullion on the snaps - incredible as always xxx
