I was really apprehensive coming to the appointment, in fact I very nearly cancelled the day before. We had just come out of an extremely stressful year with our business and I wasn’t feeling ‘gown’ ready. My mam and best friend Gemma persuaded me to come to the appointment. I had no expectations. I had never tried a wedding dress on in my life and honestly didn’t think I would find my dress during my first appointment.
I really liked the set up. The boutique at this point was at the original shop which was downstairs to the now current boutique. It was cosy and inviting with a really elegant feel.
In my head I always thought I wanted a strapless dress. However, I always knew this was going to be unrealistic as I have quite a large bust and I was getting married in the French Alps! I am a very stubborn individual, so of course the first dress I picked out to try on was a strapless, backless number which was a ‘new season’ style on the mannequin in the window. Safe to say I looked pretty ridiculous!
Joanne was my bridal consultant. From the very outset she set the tone for the service that Y.A.P offer. Attentive and magical. We discussed my expectations and she offered her advice.
It was actually the boutique owner Joanne who suggested my dress to try. I would never have picked it out, however I trusted her advice. Within seconds of stepping into it I instantly felt extremely comfortable. The dress extenuated my curves and actually reduced my bust which was a massive plus! I especially loved the fishtail effect. I did however feel like something was missing. Even though the dress fit me perfectly I wasn’t wowed. Joanne had a stock sample diamante belt in storage which she thought would be perfect for me – as soon as she put it round my waist the whole feel of the dress changed. It was completely perfect. It’s amazing what one little belt could do! The reaction from my Mam, Mother-in-Law Judith and Gemma was the icing on the cake. Joanne offered to let me buy the sample belt as I had my heart set on it and quite frankly – anything else just wouldn’t have done.
My bridal journey with the boutique was so much more than I could ever have expected. Every visit I was made to feel like I was the only bride they were looking after! Such a personal, attentive and magical service.

• VENUE •
We had a destination wedding out in the Chamonix in the French Alps. It was such an adventure for us and all of our guests. Part of the day saw us and our 65 guests take a little train up to the top of the mountain for some breath-taking photographs. My dress looked especially epic with the snow capped mountains as a background!
Both me and Mark are non-religious. We opted for a Humanist ceremony which was the most beautiful, personalised wedding I think I have ever attended. I know I have to say that as it was my own, but it was a true reflection on us, our lives and the love we have for each other.
The French alps in itself created the basis for the theme of the wedding - Winter & Rustic. Our venue was extremely quirky, a lot of wood and fur so we wanted to tie everything in with this.
• DETAILS •
Blue, Silver, Cream. A lot of the décor in our venue was wood clad and there were cream furs. We kept the colours to a minimum as to tie in with the look and feel of the whole day.
