Y.A.P was the first bridal boutique I was visiting to try on gowns - so I was a little nervous as I didn’t really know what to expect, however I’d heard so many good things about the boutique, I felt really excited at the same time.
It was the original boutique that I visited back in January 2015. I just remember seeing so many beautiful gowns and thinking ‘How am I going to have time to try them all on!?’
I had absolutely no idea what I was looking for. I picked out a few gowns I wanted to try and Danni also chose some for me to try too (she actually picked out the dress I ended up buying!)
I remember Danni asking me about the venue where we were getting married and how I wanted to look on my big day. It was the first time I had imagined myself walking down the aisle at The Vermont Hotel in the heart of Newcastle. I immediately imagined something classy, yet comfortable. I had recently became a Mam to my baby girl and knew that in just over a year she’d have me running around after her to keep me on my toes. So something that wasn’t too restricting was a must!
The service I received, from the moment I first met Danni for the first time was impeccable. I honestly can’t fault a single thing. Nothing was ever too much, everything they did was to the highest standard and I always valued their opinions. When Danni first told me the story behind YAP It brought a tear to my eye. It made the whole experience feel even more like a fairytale.
I didn’t know as soon as I tried the dress that it was the one. I obviously loved the dress and loved how I felt when I tried it on but I’m a really indecisive person. I think that there is so much speculation that when you find the dress you’ll just know and that the people you’ve brought along with you will all stand and cry and tell you that it’s the one. There is also so many bridal boutiques around that I felt like I wanted to make sure I had been to every single one. I felt so comfortable in the dress and knew that it wasn’t something people were going to expect me to wear. I probably tried around 100 gowns over three months and every time, I thought about this gown and compared it to them all. I really couldn’t stop thinking about it – I even dreamt about it. I guess that’s when I knew it was ‘The One’.
I feel blessed to have shared such a big part of my wedding experience with the Y.A.P team. They outshone every other bridal boutique I visited – which was a fair few! Their new boutique is so so beautiful, every time I visited I immediately felt at ease and all my worries seemed to disappear because I was so happy to be where I was. Danni did such a fantastic job of dressing my maids in their amazing Twobirds gowns and also myself. I really wouldn’t have wanted it to be any different - I can't thank you all enough! X

• ACCESSORIES •
The one thing I didn’t want on my wedding day was to be taller than Mark. I searched for weeks for a pair of flat shoes that would still make me feel gorgeous. I came across a brand called ‘French Sole’ online and fell in love with their bridal collection – which included a pair of ivory satin flat shoes with a silver glitter heart on the front. I bought them, tried them and loved them.
Before I'd ‘said yes to the dress’, I tried the most amazingly sparkly, two tiered veil with the dress. Because the dress had a plain skirt, the small crystals scattered across the entire veil caught everyones eye and sparkled in the light. I knew within ten seconds of trying the veil with the dress that this would be what I was going to wear on my wedding day.
• FEELINGS •
The best i've ever felt - I have never felt so confident. I felt amazing in my dress when I tried it for all of my fittings, when my hair was scraped back in a messy bun and my makeup was far from perfect . So on the morning of the wedding when I had my hair and makeup done professionally, I really did feel like a million dollars. When I walked down the stairs to see my Dad for the first time he burst into tears – It’s a memory I will never forget.
• VENUE •
The ceremony and reception were held at The Vermont Hotel in the heart of Newcastle. We wanted to create a relaxed atmosphere for our family and close friends.
• DETAILS •
We stuck to a blush pink and gold theme throughout the day. The room where the wedding breakfast and evening reception took place was called the ‘Gold Room’, so this already introduced gold tones before we had chosen our table decorations etc. The room looked stunning, even more beautiful than I'd imagined.
• SUPPLIERS •
Everything came together so perfectly. It was even more beautiful than I had imagined. I'd recommend every single one of my suppliers. Everything complimented each other beautifully and looking back I wouldn’t change a single thing.
