It’s a mixture of nerves and excitement. I had gone to Y.A.P as they had a designer I really liked, Mori Lee so I knew there would be gowns there that I would love.
I loved the elegance of the boutique. It looked clean and crisp but was the atmosphere was buzzing. I initially spotted a gown as soon as I walked in hanging amongst the others and was dying to try it on.
I knew I wanted something elegant that made me feel both classy and sexy at the same time. All women know what their best features are so it was a case of finding the right gown that made me feel good in my own skin.
I think it was the first boutique I’d been to where they really took the time to ask about the wedding. Where and when it was taking place, what the feel of the day would be and what I saw as my perfect gown. I think talking it through gave me a clearer idea of what I was looking for.
There was never any pressure by the team at Y.A.P. they weren’t clock watching for their next appointment or trying to persuade you to buy a gown there and then. Out of all the places I had been to try on gowns the service at Y.A.P was certainly the best. It was not only friendly but so useful and productive. I couldn’t fault them.
It was strange. I had just tried a gown on that had made my mum and bridesmaids cry so we thought we were onto a winner. Then I tried on ‘the dress!’ it was a totally different reaction. There was a ‘wow’ and a gasp and in general no one could speak! It was perfect. I always thought that trying on my wedding dress I’d know straight away that it was ‘the one!’ However, I think people forget the enormity of the decision for a bride. Y.A.P realise this and although I was 99.9% sure this was my dress, it wasn’t till I came back a third time that I bought it! I didn’t want to take it off and every other dress seemed somewhat plain in comparison! I did try others on after it, but nothing ever came close!
I treated myself to the most amazing pair of Jimmy Choo does! If you can’t buy yourself them for your wedding day, when can you?! My veil and hair accessories were also from Y.A.P. I loved the veil I had tried on with my gown and it wasn’t until my second fitting that I saw the hair accessory and loved it.
I feel like I have been really lucky having been a Y.A.P bride. From start to finish you’re made to feel so welcome and the team know what an important experience it is for a bride to be. They helped me alter my gown so it was perfect for me.
I felt amazing. I have never felt so glamorous and classy before and probably never will again. The gown fitted perfectly and wearing it together with my veil and accessories for the first time felt great. There were tears from family members who I have never seen cry before and the look on my now husbands face was priceless and a memory I’ll always have.
Vallum Farm in East Wallhouses. Very laid back and fun. We have garden games including crazy golf as well as local beers as reception drinks. It had the informal feel we had dreamed of.
Because James and the men went for very blue suits, I decided the rest of them theme would be very neutral. Golds, creams and nudes. I loved the overall look on the day.
