Tell us how you felt before your first appointment to try on gowns...

I had been to a few bridal boutiques and as time was running out, I was starting to get disheartened by not being able to find ‘the one’. After a friend recommended Y.A.P, I made an appointment for during my lunch-break with Joanne - limiting me to just 45 minutes so I felt determined as well as excited.

On arriving at Y.A.P Bridal Boutique what were your initial thoughts...

Y.A.P is such a beautiful boutique and considering I was in for a whirlwind appointment, it was a very calming experience for me. Joanne asked all about the wedding we were having, the type of person I am, my ideal spend and how I wanted to feel on the day in 3 words. I liked that.

Your Consultation to Finding the One...

The Y.A.P Team take time to find out about you as a person and how you want to feel in your dress so this felt personal. We chose 4 dresses to try and a ‘wildcard’ from Jo that I wasn’t sure about. I love quirky things but wasn’t convinced this wildcard style was going to be right for me but I decided to give it a go. It was the last one I tried on, it fit like a glove and when I looked in the mirror I couldn’t stop admiring it. I felt amazing and I knew instantly that I’d be getting married in this stunning dress!

Tell us about your bridal stylist and the ‘You Are Precious’ service you received...

Jo showed me dresses within my budget and it proved she had been listening to what I wanted. She’s wonderful, well-experienced, honest and knows her gowns perfectly. This was clear when she picked an absolute gem for me! Danni and Heather were also so lovely and positive during my appointments.

How did you feel when you found your dream gown & how did you know it was ‘The One’...

Magical and elated! The dress was structured but not uncomfortable, floaty but not fussy and the style was quite unique compared to a lot of dresses I had seen before my appointment. I did twirls and jumps in the boutique! There was going to be a bouncy castle, lots of dancing and even some paddling in the sea on our wedding day so I had to make sure I wasn’t going to be restricted in my dress. I knew that it was the one for me because I felt that I could be myself, and that it was perfect for marrying the love of my life. I couldn’t wait for Anth to see me in it!

I felt at ease, and in safe hands. It was also wonderful to be able to leave my dress at the boutique without worrying about friends and family catching a glimpse if I had to keep it stored at home!

• ACCESSORIES

I chose a handmade, silver hair vine with glass beads and pearls. I decided not to choose a veil because I didn’t want to detract from the dress. Shoes were nude, wedge sandals from the high street – bought with the sand (and comfort) in mind!

• FEELINGS & VENUE

We love the coast and wanted something different to a stately home wedding. Initially we looked into St Mary’s Lighthouse but the tide timings weren’t right for our date. North Shields Registry was beautiful and intimate. We added some cheeky humour walking out to ‘Get up offa that thing’ by James Brown, had a 1950s turquoise Buick take us to Tynemouth Priory for photos, before we joined our guests at Crusoe’s on Longsands beach. I decided that I also wanted to give a speech too so it wasn’t a typical, traditional wedding in that sense either! It was primarily relaxed and fun; with sangria sundowners, giant sparklers on the sand and eclectic tunes to get everyone up dancing!

• DETAILS •

We wanted a pretty but rustic venue, relaxed but with some quirky elements too.

• SUPPLIERS

Antonia Clark Photography – amazing work, and unobtrusive. She went beyond her role as a photographer.

We hired a 1950s turquoise Buick from Valley Retro.

Flip Vintage – for some accessories – we got the groomsmen vintage skinny ties and I also got my clutch bag from there too.

Bouquets & buttonholes were beautiful and wild, countryside style arrangements by Fantasia Flowers, Shields Road.  My maid of honour, Lizzie, and I did the table flowers and decorations ourselves.

Wedding cake – M&S tiers which I assembled and decorated with a vintage brooch, lace and hessian to keep the costs down!

Crusoe’s – the staff were brilliant and helped make everything just as we wanted. A perfect day

BIG Loves to the Y.A.P beauty that is Zoe - for sharing her special journey and to Antonia Clark Photography for capturing the day so perfectly xxx
