I felt nervous and excited. I had tried on at a couple of places beforehand. I had heard nothing but good reviews about Y.A.P Bridal Boutique.
Loved the atmosphere and it was very welcoming. The boutique oozed elegance.
I always thought I would have a strapless gown, but as I headed to my appointments the more I thought about it, I was leaning towards a gown with lace sleeves. Just something simple and elegant.
The boutique was so unique. Jo sat me down and asked some questions about the wedding venue and my thoughts on what type of dress I was looking for.
From the beginning Jo was amazing. Very bubbly and welcoming. After our consultation, Jo hand picked dresses in the boutique based on our conversation. It really helped take the stress out of choosing a dress with her guidance. When there is so much choice at your appointments it can be a bit daunting and so I found this really settling.
I was over the moon! The one I chose was one of the gowns that Jo had picked out for me. It was so elegant and the lace detail was beautiful. It was when I revisited the boutique after having a little think and tried the dress on again, that I knew it was definitely the gown. I felt so special and to mark the occasion, Jo treat us to some bubbly!
The Y.A.P Team are just amazing! From the beginning with Jo in helping me find the perfect gown - I was initially torn between two dresses, to try and clear my head and knew I had to try both gowns back on to be sure I was making the right decision. Jo was very patient and it wasn’t a problem me going back to the Boutique and trying my favourite gown back on. It was just an amazing feeling when I realised it was ‘The One’! The Aftercare Team are fab. Anne Y.A.P's recommended seamstress is just superb and nothing was a bother. She also did the alterations on my bridesmaids’ dresses. One of my bridesmaids was pregnant at the time so needed a few tweaks and Anne did a brilliant job on her dress. Anne was so confident with working on my bridesmaids dresses that it took the stress away from me. Danni and Heather are lovely and were always on hand to help, looking after me and the bridesmaids during our appointments. There was never anything to worry about - Everything went so smoothly. The day before the wedding I picked up my gown, along with the bridesmaid dresses, they were all steamed to perfection and everything was ready to go. I can’t thank the Y.A.P Team enough!
I bought my shoes from the Rainbow Club. They were heels and ivory, with a lace overlay to compliment my gown. Jo picked out the veil at Y.A.P and it just went great. It had a bit sparkle on it so worked really well with the lace pattern on my gown. I ordered my silver hair comb from a bespoke jewellery company I found on-line called Charminglee. It was two peacock feathers, which tied in with the theme. My earrings were from Fraser Hart, and matched my bracelet. My engagement and wedding band are from there, so thought it would be really special to have my bridal jewellery from Fraser Hart too.
I felt like I was on cloud 9! I loved how simple, yet elegant my gown was. Everything about it was just amazing and it was so comfortable and the train unbelievably light.
Our wedding was held at Wynyard Hall and we got married in the Chapel. The day was wonderful and the staff made sure that everything went smoothly. The weather was a bit overcast and I had hoped for Sun. It didn’t spoil anything though and was told it was perfect photography weather so even better!
Our colour theme was cobalt blue with a subtle peacock feather element. We actually used real peacock feathers for our invitations and we had some feathers laid out on the top table and the cake table. The peacock feather design was used for our order of service, table plan, name cards and favours, which were shortbread biscuits. To tie in with my dress, we had a lace sash over the blue sash on the chairs for the wedding breakfast.
Alan Gibson Photography did an amazing job capturing our day. Alan thought out of the box to get some really special photographs. A really nice guy and professional - only wanting the best for us both - the bride and groom. Jo was also fab and helped get some brilliant photographs.
Marissa Bennett is a fantastic hair and make-up artist. She made sure my hair and make-up were perfect. She didn’t want to be rushed so came to the wedding venue in good time. My hair took 2 hours to do as it was so intricate! I felt amazing when my hair and make-up was perfected.
Valerie Rose Floral Design did a fabulous job with the flowers. My bouquet and the bridesmaids’ bouquets were made of silk and looked so life like. I thought they would be lovely keep sakes. The flowers for the tables were fresh and helped the theme run through the room. We went for whites and creams and delphiniums brought out the blue perfectly. Valerie also put white bows on every other pier in the chapel. It all tied in so well and looked lovely.
Posh Chair Covers and Bows did a great job transforming the chairs. To keep in with Wynyard Hall’s table linen, Leona had the matching chair covers. The cobalt blue sashes with the lace sash over the top looked wonderful alongside the floral centre pieces.
Burnett4Cakes did a brilliant job on our wedding cake. It was 4 tiers and each tier was a different flavour. We opted for square tiers in white and had a peacock feathers stencil running down the cake with blue ribbon at the base of each tier. It looked fabulous and tasted amazing! They also made the wedding favours, which were a shortbread biscuit with a white peacock feather design on a blue background in icing. They were lovely and went down really well with the kids!
The Designer Wedding DJ did a great job entertaining our guests for the evening reception. We chose a local band called Barely Human and they were a hit with the guests. Overall the entertainment was superb.
We absolutely loved reading your bridal journey - Thank you for sharing Caroline and big thanks to Alan for his creative and beautiful images xxx
