I was really nervous, I’d just had a baby a few months before I started dress shopping so I was really anxious about trying dresses on. I’d been to a couple of Bridal Boutiques before Y.A.P and had left empty handed and wondering what I actually wanted in a dress.
I thought the Boutique was gorgeous and the welcome we got from the girls was amazing! They made me totally relaxed and like I was the only bride to be in the whole world.
I knew I wanted something with a vintage feel and also with a bit of colour to it - as that suited my skin tone better than ivory. I wanted to be able to dance and enjoy my evening, so I didn’t want anything too restricting. I really like Maggie Sottero gowns they are so beautiful, I knew I’d probably choose a Maggie Gown. I wanted a Gown that people would remember when they thought about the day.
When I arrived I had a quick chat with Danni, she made me feel totally at ease - I could tell she knew her stuff. She took some details to get a feel of the day we were having. I chose some dresses and Danni chose some too, it was fab having someone else’s input, she chose so well she really knew what would suit and flatter my figure. Everything from start to finish was just brilliant.
The service I received from the girls in Y.A.P from the beginning until my wedding day was amazing, even down to getting a text on the morning of my wedding day. They made myself and my Bridal Party feel so welcome at every appointment. They have such a passion for what they are doing and its reflected in their brilliant customer service.
I knew my Gown was 'The One' as soon as I put it on! I felt stunning in it, it had all of the details I wanted even though it wasn’t what I initially thought I wanted In a gown. It did take me another couple of visits to definitely say yes (I am a total worrier even though deep down I knew it was The One) but I couldn’t stop thinking about it and every time I tried it on I didn’t want to take it off.
My Y.A.P Bridal journey was amazing. I felt excited for every appointment it was like going to see old friends, Danni and Jo are so professional they make you feel so welcome, it’s a huge honour to be able to call myself a Y.A.P Bride. The boutique is simply stunning and all of the team were brilliant nothing was too much effort for them.

My Shoes were gorgeous pale pink Jimmy Choos, Andrew bought them as a surprise for me, he chose them himself I was so surprised they matched my dress perfectly. I knew I wanted something vintage looking for my hair so tried a few pieces on and chose a beautiful jewelled and beaded headpiece it complemented the dress beautifully.
I wasn’t going to have a veil as neither me nor Andrew were too bothered, my Mam wanted me to wear a veil so I tried some for her, I’m so glad I did as I felt like an actually bride when I did, the veil pulled everything together and finished the look off perfectly.

I am so lucky that one of my best friends Kate (Moodie) is a brilliant makeup artist, she was also 1 of my bridesmaids so was with me every step of the way thinking about what both I and the girls wanted. She styled our hair and makeup, I wear makeup most of the time so I love having a full face on - she made me look and feel amazing. My other 2 bridesmaids don’t wear much makeup and she made them look stunning without looking too made up, they were so happy.
Our Photographer was Scott Spock, when we first met Korinne at a wedding open day we knew we wanted them to cover our big day. From the minute they arrived on the morning of the wedding till now they have been amazing, I honestly don’t think I could have made it down the aisle without them there. I was so nervous and they made me feel amazing. Scott is amazing the shots he captured are brilliant nothing fazed him at all and Korinne was like an old friend - just the best craic! She made sure everyone felt comfortable and knew where they needed to be, she knew all of the guests names I don’t know how she did it. All of our guests have commented on how brilliant they were, they were blown away by them they are so professional and so individual at the same time, just fab.
We had Coco Luminaire who provide illuminated R&A initials for us, they were amazing, great to deal with so friendly I felt totally comfortable trusting Laura on the day of the wedding to position the letters where she thought was best, they made our day look extra special our guests loved them.
Our cake was provided by Mrs Boucake a local Baker, she was great and made exactly what we wanted our cake looked and tasted amazing.
I really struggled to find music for the day, I’m very fussy having studied music and being in bands I’m a bit of a stickler. Then I found AMV Live they have so many artists to choose from, I knew I wanted someone for the ceremony and a band for the evening. We had White Feathers perform for our ceremony and reception drinks they were amazing Kelly has the most amazing voice, they even did a request from our little boy Oscar who wanted them to sing Higher and Higher by Jackie Wilson….. And for the evening we had Livewire - they were amazing Faye is brilliant she sounded fantastic, as did the band, our guests loved them they had everyone up dancing. Mick from AMV who I dealt with most of the time was great so professional and helpful he really helped me make my final decision overall a brilliant experience.
I had collected lots of vintage bits and bobs from family and antique shops to decorate my tables, tea sets, glass decanters and had handmade pom poms, bunting, my place cards invitations etc. The staff at Newton hall dressed the tables with my bits and they looked gorgeous I’m so glad I did I felt like it was extra special because everything had a personal touch or a memory attached to it.
The flowers were provided by Elvet flowers in Durham, I wanted wild looking flowers nothing over the top, they were gorgeous. My bouquet was beautiful, exactly what I wanted for me and my bridesmaids
Some of the finishing touches were hired from Helen at Beamish Extras, We had a typewriter for our table plan, ribbons and lace sashes on the chairs, and they looked stunning. Helen has an excellent range to choose from she was amazing to deal with.
Big hugs and thanks to Rhi for sharing her special memories from her bridal journey - Your day looked absolutely out of this world and was captured perfectly by Scott Spock Photograohy and Korinne xxx we ADORE xxx
