Our Brides
Jen and Josh
Tell us how you and your partner met. Your ‘love story’…
Josh and I share the same hometown in Northumberland. We had a lot of mutual friends but our paths never really crossed until around 8 years ago in our local pub. After 3 or 4 coincidental meetings and several drinks over the next few weeks, we agreed to go on a date. The rest, as they say, is history!
How did you feel before your first appointment to try on gowns?
I was so excited and also really nervous. I think it’s the day most girls dream of and I was scared I wasn’t going to find “The One”. Y.A.P Bridal was the second bridal shop I had visited on my first day of looking. As soon as I walked through the door, I knew I was going to find my dress there.
Did you have in mind the style and look you wanted from your gown? If so what was it?
I had always wanted a ‘floaty’ A line gown but was trying to keep an open mind going into my appointment. I was convinced I had found the one on Y.A.P’s Instagram a few weeks before (I followed them before I was even engaged!) and that was the main reason for booking my appointment. This was not the dress I went on to buy….
How did your stylists during your Y.A.P journey help to find the perfect dress for you?
My first appointment was with Ruth. She sat me down and asked me all about how I wanted to feel on my wedding day. (I believe my response was “Nothing too tight so I can enjoy my Pizza van!) Ruth was amazing, bringing different options for me and making me feel a million dollars. Waiting patiently as I tried and re-tried dresses to be sure. The day I collected my dress was the day before Lockdown, March 2020. This appointment was with Brogan who again, made me feel so at ease and so beautiful in my Y.AP gown.
How did you feel when you found your dream gown & how did you know it was ‘The One’?
As I said earlier, I went to Y.A.P thinking I’d already found the dress I would be buying. I tried this on first and it was amazing, a beautiful embellished A-line gown. I decided to try on others, as I was scared to get the first dress that I’d tried on. As soon as I tried on my “McKenna” by Rebecca Ingram I suddenly felt the feeling I knew I was supposed to feel. Ruth got me a plain cathedral veil to try and I knew that was ‘My Precious One’.
How did you feel in your amazing Y.A.P gown when you tied the knot?
I felt absolutely amazing walking down the aisle in my dress. It filled me with so much confidence and fit just perfectly. The tulle skirt made me feel like I was floating and I was so excited to show Josh as I’d picked the dress up over 14 months before I was able to finally wear it.
What three words would you use to describe your overall Y.A.P Bridal Journey?
Personal, Magical & Relaxed!
What is one thing you think you gained from having a ‘Love in Lockdown’ Wedding that you don’t think you’d have appreciated at a ‘Big’ Day?
I think for us personally, we really enjoyed a smaller wedding. We both felt more relaxed and able to enjoy ourselves rather than being full of nerves and feeling like we had to spend our day splitting our time between 100 + guests. Our day was spent making memories with our nearest and dearest.
