I was really excited about my appointment as I had heard excellent things about the boutique from my friend Vicki who was also a Y.A.P bride. I love shopping and really loved trying wedding dresses on – it was so much fun and definitely one of the highlights of the planning for me! I had been to a few other places before I came to Y.A.P though and lost count of the number of dresses I’d tried on, so I wasn’t expecting to find ‘The One’. So many of my friends had said “you’ll just know when you find your dress” but I was starting to feel a little bit like I might not get that feeling.
The boutique was gorgeous and everyone was SO lovely. I felt very at ease and as though everyone there was really excited for me too!
As I’d tried on so many dresses, I did have a few things I knew I wanted. My dress needed to have sparkles, and I wanted something fitted at the waist with an a-line skirt, and that was sheer at the top and not strapless. It also needed to be comfortable as I wanted to wear it all day and dance in it all night!
Y.A.P was the only place to hold a real consultation, where we sat down so that they could find out more about me and the kind of day I wanted. When we looked back at the notes Louise had made, the dress I’d chosen matched what I wanted exactly!
Louise was my stylist and was great, although I really did feel like the whole Y.A.P team were so involved in finding my dress and helping me prepare for the big day and that they were all part of the styling team! From the very first appointment, to the text messages leading up to the wedding, to the amazing service from Anne the seamstress when altering the dress to fit me, it was all brilliant and I was so happy with everything.
I just knew as soon as I had the dress on that it was exactly what I wanted – I can’t really describe the feeling! I’d taken my Maid of Honour and one of my bridesmaids to the appointment and they both agreed the dress was just so perfect for me. When I showed my mum and my sisters they loved the dress too and a few tears were shed!
It was like a dream to be honest. Everything was perfect. I really felt that the whole team were always so excited for me – I was treated as though I was their most important customer and that my wedding was just as important to them as it was to me. Anne was so amazing during the fittings and I really loved going to see her and trying my dress on for my alterations. I always left the boutique feeling even more excited about the wedding.

• ACCESSORIES •
My sparkly comb and veil were perfect, also from Y.A.P and Danni helped me choose these at my dress fittings. She knew exactly what I wanted. I adored the cathedral length veil – I kept it on for most of the day as I loved it so much! Everyone commented on how gorgeous it was. Anne also recommended a petticoat which I bought from Y.A.P too, to make my dress flare out a little bit and I absolutely loved how the dress looked on the day. My shoes were from Dune and were a bargain find in the sale. They matched my dress really well.
• FEELINGS •
I felt incredible! I didn’t put the dress on until it was time to walk down the aisle and as soon as I did I felt totally ready to enjoy the day, and I was so excited to see Aaron. I didn’t take it off until 2am after a lot of dancing!
• VENUE •
Our wedding was held at Redworth Hall in Darlington. I wanted a fun, relaxed day with a big party on the night, which it definitely was! The staff there were fab and everything was just how we wanted it.
• DETAILS •
Aaron and the ushers had blue suits and the bridesmaids wore blush dresses, and I’d chosen all pastel flowers. There was no theme but we had lots of little details that were linked with Las Vegas which was where we got engaged and where we are going for part of our honeymoon. Our tables were named after Las Vegas hotels, we also had casino tables and a magician.
All of our suppliers were fab to work with and they all helped make our day so much fun! I think we had a real dream team, I loved working with each and every one of them.
