Our Brides
Megan and Peter
Tell us how you and your partner met. Your ‘love story’…
My husband Peter and I have been together for 8 years, since we were 16. We met in sixth form – I had just moved 300 miles away from where I grew up with my family so safe to say I was feeling very scared and vulnerable walking into a school where I knew nobody and all my friends were so far away! On my first day, I was waved over by a group of people who spotted me wandering about by myself and there a friendship was born. Peter was part of this group and we bonded quickly one lunchtime over the fact that we are both drummers (although I must stress Peter is the real talent when it comes to drumming!), and it was our mutual love of music, Peter’s struggle with simultaneous equations and my love of maths that helped our friendship to grow rapidly. From there it wasn’t long before Peter asked me to be his girlfriend, and 6 years later he asked me to be his wife! Now we have been married for 3 months (where does the time go?!), and loving this new adventure we get to take together!
How did you feel before your first appointment to try on gowns?
Before my first appointment to try on wedding dresses I felt so excited and quite relaxed – it was only about 3 weeks after we got engaged and I wasn’t actually planning on buying anything that day! My idea was to just take a look and get a feel for the sort of thing I liked, as we still had a year and a half until the wedding day. However, it turned out that after only about 6 dresses I found ‘the one’ and I knew I’d regret it if a walked out without it!
Did you have in mind the style and look you wanted from your gown? If so what was it?
When we got engaged one of the first things I got excited about was creating a pinterest board full of wedding inspiration, so I had saved a lot of dresses that I felt were right up my street. I had in mind something with lace and more of an A-Line style, I wasn’t so keen on the bigger ballgowns but equally I was willing to try lots of different styles as you never know until you see it on!
Tell us about the ‘You Are Precious’ service you received along your bridal journey
I had the best experience buying my wedding dress from Y.A.P.. From the moment I walked in with my mum and sister we were treated with such kindness and we felt instantly comfortable and welcome. I wasn’t made to feel like I had to try on styles I wasn’t keen on, and I absolutely loved every single dress that was pulled out! I loved how supportive the whole team were, you can really tell that every single one of the girls loves what they do and that really shines through during the whole experience.
How did you feel when you found your dream gown & how did you know it was ‘The One’?
I was so surprised when I tried on my dress for the first time – I had originally thought that I wouldn’t go for a fitted style or a low neckline, but this dress was so different and so beautiful that I had to try it on! I couldn’t believe how much I loved it, I love the overskirt as this made me feel so much more comfortable about the fitted style of the dress, and as soon as the curtain opened and I saw my mum and my sisters faces, I knew it was the one. They said to me that when this dress was on my smile was the biggest and they were absolutely right!
How did you feel in your amazing Y.A.P gown when you tied the knot?
I felt so confident and beautiful in my gown on the day! I remember walking down the aisle and seeing Peter’s face light up as he saw me, and all my nerves just melted away. The dress fitted like a glove on the day and was so comfortable, I wore converse too so these combined with the dress of my dreams meant I could dance the night away without a care in the world!
What three words would you use to describe your overall Y.A.P Bridal experience?
Welcoming, positive, wonderful!
