Our Brides
Nikki & Peter
Tell us how you felt before your first appointment to try on gowns…
Since the moment Peter proposed the hunt for the perfect dress began, I trawled the internet looking for inspiration and ideas and I’d decided a mermaid dress was the style for me…..I’d even managed to narrow it down to the designer I wanted! I tend to visualise what I want and stick to my guns…..I was sure wedding dress shopping would be a breeze.
With that in mind I started tracking down boutiques which stocked that particular designer, that’s when I came across Y.A.P Bridal Boutique, so me and my mam booked some appointments and couldn’t wait to start the whole process.
On arriving at Y.A.P Bridal Boutique what were your initial thoughts…
Y.A.P Bridal Boutique was the 3rd shop we visited that day….
So a little deflated after trying all kinds of dresses at previous places and not being blown away, we were a little tired as we made our way to Y.A.P……..WOW!!!! This small boutique nestled in Newcastle instantly won me over, climbing the stairs we were greeted by beautiful dreamy gowns as well as a warm and smiling team who genuinely appeared over the moon, we instantly felt at ease.
Your Style Ideas…
I’d managed to narrow down the basics of what I’d wanted for my dress, I knew I wanted a mermaid gown, which was lightweight, I also wanted a sweetheart neckline, I’d tried on a few other styles before arriving at Y.A.P and knew I wouldn’t be happy in anything else.
Your Consultation to Finding the One…
Before we were taken into the main boutique room to look at all of the gowns I was asked questions about my wedding location, the dates, about styles and designers, it was also nice to know they took your ideal spend into consideration so that you didn’t try on a dress you couldn’t afford leaving you heart broken.
Y.A.P were the first boutique to ask the above throughout my whole experience
The girls really listened to what I wanted and asked if they could make suggestions for a gown for me to try on.
The consultation helped me narrow down further the type of gown I wanted for our big day.
Tell us about your bridal stylist and the ‘You Are Precious’ service you received…
I visited Y.A.P twice before finally committing to my beautiful gown and had the pleasure of dealing with Heather, Danni and Jo on these visits, each consultant made me feel special and part of the family, there was no hard sale or ‘buy today and you’ll get a discount’ bribes in fact I left it a full 6 months before returning.
The service has been outstanding from the initial visit right through. It felt like each of the girls just wanted me to feel comfortable and confident with my gown with the help of their guidance I really did find the dress of my dreams.
How did you feel when you found your dream gown & how did you know it was ‘The One’…
As I’d said earlier Y.A.P Bridal Boutique was the 3rd shop I had visited that day…by which time I’d tried on around 10 dresses, I didn’t know if I’d found my dress yet, I had liked 2 dresses which I’d tried on in the boutique – but I just wasn’t ready to commit as I’d gone shopping around 18 months before the big day!
6 months later I tracked down a dress which I found online when I first started looking and took all my bridesmaids and mother with me to the shop that stocked the designer….I bought a dress that I wasn’t happy with and instantly regretted my decision.
That’s when I knew I’d actually found my dream dress at Y.A.P 6 months ago, I couldn’t stop thinking about the dreamy gown, about the beautiful detailing, the perfect tulle skirt, how the dress made me feel and look, I could imagine Peters face and reaction to me in the dress that I’d walked away from.
I needed that dress!!!! I managed to sell the 1st dress I bought the day I collected it, I marched myself straight back to the beautiful little boutique in Newcastle that had provided me with an amazing bridal experience and put down the deposit for the Rosa Clara dress I tried on all them months ago without even asking to try it on!
Talk to us about your overall Y.A.P Bridal Journey…
I can’t praise the team and this beautiful boutique enough, the experience is overwhelming and the girls are there every step of the way guiding and advising you, I felt like not only was I part of their family but they were part of mine, I trusted in everything they told me and didn’t feel stressed or anxious about anything at all.
My dress arrived around 6 months after we placed the order, when I came to try my actual dress on I fell in love all over again, Anne the seamstress was also there that day….wow what a woman she is…. after loosing quiet a bit of weight I knew the dress would be too big, so I’d expected to be pinned into my gorgeous gown but no, nothing not even a tape measure was needed – Anne asked how I’d like the dress to fit and if I wanted any specific alterations carrying out and then we made an appointment for my next fitting.
I arrived to try my altered dress and couldn’t believe my eyes, the dress fit like a glove and now it was fitted specifically to me my love for the dress hit a whole new level I was all giddy and had butterflies at the thought of Peter seeing me in this dress I couldn’t wait for the wedding day!!!
