Our Brides
Sophie and Nicky
Tell us how you and your partner met. Your ‘love story’…
I met Nicky whilst on a temporary job placement before returning to university. We were working in similar roles but for different teams which meant we didn’t work particularly close during the short time that I was there. However, it quickly became apparent that Nicky knew how to make me laugh better than anyone can, and we developed a great friendship over a short space of time. When I left to start university, we kept in touch and things progressed from there.
How did you feel before your first appointment to try on gowns?
I felt excited to feel special and imagine how I would look and feel on the wedding day wearing my dress.
Did you have in mind the style and look you wanted from your gown? If so what was it?
I knew I wanted something unstructured and elegant, but my idea of what it was I was looking for changed after I’d seen myself in the first couple of dresses and that’s when I really knew what it was I was looking for.
Tell us about the ‘You Are Precious’ service you received throughout your bridal journey
Both my appointments at Y.A.P completely made the dress shopping experience for me. At my initial appointment, Brogan was so welcoming and showed that she was listening to exactly what it was I was looking for, or at least, thought I was looking for initially! She was fantastic at tuning into what it was I liked and disliked about the dresses I tried and used this to pick out the perfect dress.
The whole team at Y.A.P go that extra mile to make you feel at ease and really help to envisage your look. The girls gave great advice and were fantastic at communicating with all their brides despite a global pandemic.
How did you feel when you found your dream gown & how did you know it was ‘The One’?
As soon as Brogan fastened me in ‘the’ dress, I looked at myself in the mirror and all I could see was myself walking up to Nicky and marrying him. I knew I’d found it in that instant and it was more of an emotional moment than I was prepared for. I couldn’t have anticipated being so sure or loving the dress as much as I did at the start of the search.
How did you feel in your amazing Y.A.P gown when you tied the knot?
A-ma-zing! I couldn’t have wished to feel any happier in my dress.
What three words would you use to describe your overall Y.A.P Bridal experience?
Special, emotional, unforgettable.
What is one thing you think you gained from having a ‘Love in Lockdown’ Wedding that you don’t think you’d have appreciated at a ‘Big’ Day?
Getting married when we did, we were restricted with a lot of things but we were able to make sure that we did things exactly how we wanted them within those boundaries. Postponing and planning a wedding when we did wasn’t how we had maybe imagined it would’ve been at the outset. There were challenges along the way but it certainly made us prioritise the things that were important to us, which we are so grateful for because we had the best day with the people who are most important in our lives and we wouldn’t have changed a thing.
